Riva announces Jeff Brown Yachts as its new exclusive dealer for the Western United States

Article Posted Sep 16, 2024

Riva, a mark of excellence in the global yachting industry, announces a major dealership agreement with Jeff Brown Yachts that consolidates the brand’s presence in the United States. As exclusive dealer, Jeff Brown Yachts will oversee distribution, sales and services for the iconic range of Riva boats in the main markets on America’s West Coast, covering strategic states including California, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii.

“I met Jeff few years ago at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, and I soon realized he could have been the right business partner. Jeff shares our same commitment and vision for Riva”, said Simone Meletti, managing director of Ferretti Group Americas. “I’m confident Jeff Brown Yachts will be a leading player for Ferretti Group and will make an important contribution to the continuing growth of the Riva brand in the U.S. market.”

“It’s an absolute honor to represent Riva on the West Coast from Seattle to San Diego”,
says Jeff Brown, owner of Jeff Brown Yachts. “Riva is a storied brand that I have admired for my entire life, so to represent the brand exclusively on the West Coast of the United States is truly a privilege”.

With a consolidated network of offices in San Diego, Newport Beach, Sausalito, Seattle, and Kailua-Kona, Jeff Brown Yachts stands out as the fastest growing dealer on the West Coast, ready to offer customers a tailor-made service covering sales, repairs, refitting and maintenance, and reflecting the attention to detail and professional approach that have always been signature features of the Riva brand.

With over 30 years of experience, Jeff Brown and his team provide a high-end service, allowing customers to fully enjoy the unique experience that only a Riva yacht can offer.

This new agreement strengthens Riva’s determination to collaborate with excellent partners, consolidating the brand’s presence around the world, and ensuring its customers’ satisfaction through a close-knit assistance network and a broad range of services that include delivery, maintenance and transport.

38’ Rivamare

Jeff Brown Yachts will have two Riva offerings on display this fall in Southern California. The 38 Rivamare is a new jewel in the storied Riva crown. With her sinuous, flowing lines, dramatically flared bow and considerable beam in those broad shoulders, which tapers back to an alluring and curvaceous stern, is a fusion of legend, modernity and sheer class – a seductive, sporty motorboat that charms from the very first glance.

Melding the best of modern technology with classical Riva Yacht lines, so evocative of the French Riviera’s ‘joie de vivre’ of decades past, the Riva Rivamare elegantly transports one not only over serene water, but also through time.

48’ Dolceriva

There are boats that tell a familiar story and boats that write an entirely new one – like the 48' Dolceriva, whose profoundly rethought design and style open a whole new chapter for Riva and the historic Sarnico boatyard. However close you get, the quality and detailing just get better. The chromed brass gleams. The stainless steel is polished to a mirror sheen. Riva’s iconic lacquered mahogany—coated with layer upon layer of gloss varnish—adds to the radiance.

Rising and falling with a relaxed, languid stride that seems to flatten the sea, the pleasure of the Dolcervia comes from reveling in its style and character, and the effortless and stylish manner in which it lets you enjoy the ride.

Axopar/BRABUS Pacific Northwest Adventure. Jeff Brown Yachts Announces 2024 Summer Rendezvous.

Article Posted Feb 01, 2024

Will this be your summer of boating adventure? Set for June 17-21, Jeff Brown Yachts will be leading the Axopar/BRABUS Pacific Northwest Adventure, with the opportunity for you to explore the cruising grounds of the Salish Sea—the collective waters of the Puget Sound, Strait of Juan de Fuca, Strait of Georgia, British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, and a string of emerald islands rimmed by the Cascade and Olympic Mountains.

The journey begins in Seattle, where Tommy Casias and Coleman Rogers from our Seattle office, and Jeff Brown will greet you for an epic 5-day adventure. You’ll have a couple of days before the trip to prep and provision your boats, and the Jeff Brown Yachts service team will be on hand to assist. On Sunday night, June 16, we’ll be hosting a welcome reception, trip overview, and safety brief. It’s a great way to meet and greet your fellow adventurers and join in the excitement for things to come. Monday morning we’ll top off coffee cups and head through the Ballard Locks for the rendezvous starting point at Elliott Bay Marina.

Our first port of call will be the always-welcoming Lopez Islander Resort, located on Fisherman Bay and the “Friendly Isle” of Lopez. It should be an easy day's run, with an opportunity to find your sea legs and get in sync with the water world around you. You’ll enjoy pre-arranged mooring and lodging, a hosted social event, and the evening to enjoy on your own terms.

Day 2 will take the group into Canadian waters. We’ll clear Customs at Van Isla Marina in the town of Sydney, on Vancouver Island. From here, our course runs parallel with a string of coastal islands before we transit the Strait of Georgia. Setting a course for the mainland, we’ll enter the majestic realm of British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast. Deeply carved fjords split the coast, as mountains soar steeply above. You’ll nudge the nose of your boat up to sheer cliffs and fill your cup from waterfalls that cascade hundreds of feet into the ocean. Upon entering these waters, you’ll truly feel a world apart.

The remote Westcoast Wilderness Lodge will serve as our base camp for days of adventure and exploration. The award-winning lodge offers gracious accommodations, locally sourced cuisine, and a welcoming staff. From here, you enjoy a water highway to a land of scenic wonders, including Princess Louisa Inlet—often referred to as the Grand Canyon of British Columbia. Local guides will share their favorite spots and take us through inlets and passages you’ll never forget.

Jeff Brown Yachts will be hosting meals and social gatherings throughout the week, while leaving plenty of time to explore and relax on your own. To help make this a stress-free trip, we’ve set the route, pre-arranged lodging, taken care of mooring details, and organized activities suited for all. Our Service Department can also assist with transporting your boat from its homeport to Seattle. All you have to do is register to join us, and cover your transportation, lodging/meals, and boat expenses.

Beyond our time together, we’re hopeful you’ll consider staying a bit longer and explore more of what this amazing cruising area has to offer. At the end of the rendezvous, Jeff and Tommy will be adding a few days in Vancouver. You’re welcome to join them, or if you desire, consider exploring a little further north, into Desolation Sound, the largest marine park in British Columbia. Heading south, the vibrant and modern city of Victoria is an option, as well as the historic and charming community of Port Townsend, on the northern tip of the Olympic Peninsula. The team at Jeff Brown Yachts will be happy to assist with route information.

We’re looking forward to a great Axopar/BRABUS Pacific Northwest Adventure, with the chance to discover new places, meet new friends, and create lasting memories. There’s limited room, so register early to secure your spot. You can find the registration form here, jeffbrownyachts.com/events/pacific-northwest-adventure

Jeff Brown Yachts Acquires Legendary Eichenlaub Boatyard Location

Article Posted Feb 08, 2023

As the new leaseholder of the former Eichenlaub Boatyard location on Shelter Island, Jeff Brown Yachts seeks to honor the legendary San Diego yachtsman and boat builder with the development of The Olde Boatyard.

“It’s an honor to take on the historical boatyard that Carl Eichenlaub ran since the 1950s. We are proud to be the new caretakers of this iconic yard and carry on Carl’s tradition of excellence and innovation. We plan to attract other like-minded bespoke, high-quality craftsmen in the marine industry,” stated Jeff Brown, “The yard is adjacent to our current sales docks at Ketch Grill and Taps and provides us the chance to enhance our own service ability and department here on Shelter Island.“

Often referred to as a true renaissance man, Carl Eichenlaub built countless boats in his Shelter Island boatyard for nearly six decades. He was also the shipwright to the U.S. National Sailing Team for seven Olympic Games spanning three decades. A highly respected sailor in his own right, Eichenlaub was a world-class competitor in Sabot, Snipes and Lightnings, and had a huge influence on some of the best sailors and yacht designers coming out of San Diego — Lowell North, Pete Bennett, Malin Burham and Doug Peterson.

In 2000, Eichenlaub was awarded U.S. Sailing’s highest honor — the Nathanael Herreshoff Award — for his many contributions to the sport. He was also named to the Intercollegiate Sailing Hall of Fame.

The Olde Boatyard will include two phases of improvements to the street-level workspaces and dock facilities. “Our goal is to create a welcoming and friendly environment that encourages people to observe and interact with the high-quality craftsmen we’re looking to be part of the boatyard and waterfront experience. It’s been said of Carl, that his next project was always his favorite. It’s in that spirit that we are approaching The Olde Boatyard,” said Brown.

Introducing Mari~Time: The Art of Ownership

Article Posted Aug 29, 2022

Introducing Mari~Time by Jeff Brown Yachts! We’ve developed a path to yacht ownership that can easily fit your lifestyle. It’s a way to enjoy endless memories on the water when your time is limited by other demands.

We are a direct importer of premium yacht brands, from luxury weekenders to long-range cruisers. You'll have a choice of models from BRABUS Marine, Pearl Yachts, Pardo Yachts, and Sirena Yachts. When a group of owners wants to purchase one of our offerings, an LLC, limited liability company, is created to acquire the yacht. Typically, there’s 5 shares in the LLC. You can own one, two, or more shares if you like. Mari~Time shepherds the transaction process, then steps into the role of yacht management.

Service and Care:

Your brand-new yacht is based at our private marina in the heart of Newport Beach Harbor. It’s fully managed and maintained to super yacht standards by our professional staff and operated by a licensed captain. We take care of the details, maintenance, cleaning, and having the boat fully prepped and ready to motor before you arrive in our secure underground parking.

Scheduling Made Easy:

It’s easy to plan your days or be spontaneous with our easy-to-use Mari~Time owners app. Choose your days, plan your meals, pick your favorite drinks, get alerts on last minute availabilities. Our Concierge handles all the details of scheduling, itineraries, provisioning, and attending to personal needs, including private linens, towels and artwork.

More Joy, Less Risk:

With Mari~Time you enjoy the benefits of ownership for as little as 1/5th the cost, while avoiding the burdens of traditional ownership. Through the LLC, the number of owners is limited, provides a lower cost of entry while sharing fixed and capital cost, and ensures access that maximizes your time on the water. You can transfer or sell your share after meeting any holding requirements, and Mari~Time will assist in finding a buyer and facilitate the transaction process.

The Modern Way to Own:

With Mari~Time, you own a yacht, without the stress and time-consuming element of yacht management. You’ll enjoy access, flexibility, and ease of use through the year with the support of our Professional Staff and Concierge. But the most important value is the time you’ll enjoy on the water, in a way that fits your lifestyle, your family, your dream. And that’s the real mission of Mari~Time.

Mari~Time is fundamentally changing the way you can own, maintain, and enjoy a luxury yacht. We’ll help you choose the right yacht and manage the details.

Sirena Yachts Unveils Newest Model in advance of Cannes

Article Posted Jul 01, 2022

In advance of the Cannes Boat Show in September, Sirena Yachts has provided a preview of its new Sirena 78 model. The newest addition to its award winning line comes from the drawing boards of naval architect German Frees, with interiors by Cor d. Rover.

With an overall length of 82 feet, and a light ship displacement of 75.3 tonnes, the Sirena 78 offers creative enhancements that signal an even more rapid evolution of design and innovation to improve the on-the-water experience. She effectively advances the idea of the cruising yacht by delivering a combination of interior comfort and a wide range of efficient performance.

The Sirena 78 offers a range contemporary interior and flybridge layout options. There are three interior packages to choose from, with a range of color, finishes, material choices, plus interior and galley layouts. The spacious salon with loose furniture allows the owner to modify the look and feel of the yacht daily. Each layout includes four cabins, with an additional cabin for crew. The full-beam master suite with an en suite and dressing room are hallmarks of the Sirena line.

The flybridge is a key element on nearly all Sirenas, thanks to the space and views it makes available, as well as the overhang that provides shade for the afterdeck. Owners can opt for an open flybridge, a semi-enclosed one, or a fully enclosed design with enormous windows that allow for abundant natural light with protected views that block wind, spray, and weather.

On deck, there’s generous space for socializing with a covered aft-deck that enjoys a seamless transition from the main salon. Forward is a spacious lounge area with generous seating, lighting, table and entertainment features.

A range of high efficiency propulsion options are available, providing a range of approximately 1,550 nautical miles at an “economy cruising mode” of ten knots. Standard cruising speed is rated at 16 knots.

We look forward to sharing more about this latest addition to the Sirena Yacht line in the coming months. Learn more at www.sirenayachts.com/sirena-78

Jeff Brown: Modern Luxury Power Players Spotlight

Article Posted May 27, 2022

Jeff Brown has been an innovator in the yachting world for decades. After a 20-year career in the Marines as an air traffic controller, Jeff pursued his passion for boating and hasn't looked back since. Throughout Jeff's extensive yachting career, he has been involved in yacht design, sailing schools, racing sailboats, organizing committees to bring world class yachting events to the West Coast and selling premium boats.

For years he ran JK3, a successful yacht dealer and brokerage company recognized as one of the top dealers for brands that included Hanse, J/Boats, Moody, Sabre and Back Cove. In 2018, Jeff and his wife Karen shifted gears to open a boutique yacht sales company in San Diego selling bespoke European yachts. That was just a little over 3 years ago and Jeff Brown Yachts has grown from a two-person company into a 30 person business with 6 offices and marinas in San Diego, Newport Beach, Sausalito, Seattle, Kailua-Kona and Wrightsville Beach.

Jeff Brown Yachts is the exclusive West Coast dealer for Axopar, BRABUS, Pardo Yachts, Pearl Yachts, Sirena Yachts Seven Seas and YYachts. These unique and award winning brands further demonstrate Jeff's entrepreneurial ability to read the market and understand what people are looking for.

Through Jeff's passion for yachting and innovative business acumen came the concept of Mari~Time. Designed for those whose time is limited by other demands, Mari~Time provides a smart path to shared yacht ownership, from the latest high-end day boats for entertaining and enjoyment, to luxury long range cruisers that allow you to explore beyond your home port. All the boats in the fleet are new from the Builder, berthed at Jeff Brown Yachts private marina in Newport Beach Harbor and operated and maintained by a licensed Captain, service professionals and concierge. With continuous access, and all-inclusive support and berthing, Mari~Time is fundamentally changing the way you can own, maintain, and enjoy a luxury yacht.

Jeff is dedicated to working harder than his competitors and is a keen believer of investing to develop the business to its full potential. Willing to take risks, he went against the odds the past two years with innovative premium boat brand offerings, new paths to shared ownership, and the momentum has not lessened. He is a multi-tasker, who not only thinks of better ideas, but can bring those concepts to fruition. As Jeff puts it "The most gratifying part of this business is finding the best possible yacht to fulfill the dreams of each client, who become lifelong friends along the way."

Two Sides of Catalina

Article Posted Apr 29, 2022

For many Catalina veterans, paradise is the twin bays and crystal-clear waters of Two Harbors and Cat Harbor. Separated by an isthmus a half mile wide, these picturesque anchorages represent two sides of Catalina’s west end.

Two Harbors is one of the most popular destinations for SoCal boaters. The surrounding shoreline comprises the main harbor and many protected coves. The Dive & Recreation Center has everything you’ll need to enjoy hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, snorkeling, and world-class scuba diving. Dining options include Harbor Reef Restaurant, with waterfront dining on the deck, or at your beachside palapa, and Harbor Sands offers signature food and drinks. Be sure to check island activity calendars for special music, athletic, and cultural events.

Catalina Harbor, or as longtime residents call it “Cat Harbor,” is the island’s most protected anchorage. The boat trip around Catalina’s west end takes you along a wild and jagged coastline, punctuated by crashing waves and shafts of light penetrating the morning marine layer. Contrasting deep blue waters and high outcrops of iron rich red volcanic hillsides frame the entrance to the bay. While it is just a short walk from its neighbor, Two Harbors, this picturesque setting can feel a world removed.

The west end of Catalina offers over 700 moorings and anchorages in more than a dozen different locations, including Isthmus, Fourth of July, Cherry Coves, Emerald Bay, Howland’s Landing, Little Geiger, White’s Landing, Moonstone, Hen Rock, Buttonshell, Catalina Harbor and Wells Beach. Mooring reservations are available starting at 8:00 pm each Thursday evening for the upcoming weekend. The Harbor Department handles mooring and shore boat operations, as well as the fuel dock. You can learn more about Catalina and all it has to offer here, visitcatalinaisland.com.

An idyllic string of pearls, the coves of Laguna Beach

Article Posted Apr 29, 2022

Laguna Beach’s scenic 8 miles of coastline offers a collection of white sand pocket beaches and scenic crescent coves. The long warm days of summer through early fall make this magical coastline a popular destination. Running north to south, your first sighting will be Emerald Bay—our favorite anchorage. The cove itself is guarded on both ends by high cliffs making it impossible to walk the shore from adjacent beaches. Beach access from land is only open to residents of the gated community of Emerald Bay. While the shoreline is a private beach, the cove is a popular anchorage for those spending the day aboard their boats and enjoying the crystal-clear water.

Cruising south, beautiful Crescent Bay offers a quarter mile of pristine sand, popular with swimmers, skim-boarders, sun bathers and shoreline anglers. Shaw’s Cove Beach is a quiet and favorite spot for divers and tide poolers. A short motor south, you’ll find scuba divers and kayakers entering the water at the adjoining Fisherman’s  and Diver’s Coves. Diver’s offers a respite from the crowds and families find it a good place for children to wade.

About 2 football fields long, Picnic Beach sits below Heisler Park, making it a popular destination. Swimmers, snorkelers, scuba divers and tide poolers find this to be an ideal location. There’s plenty of facilities that families find comforting for a full day at the beach. Once you reach Main Beach, the shoreline topography transitions from pocket coves and rocky outcrops to extended beaches.

Let Us Arrange Your Trip
If you’ve never explored Laguna Beach from the water, check in with our Concierge service before your departure and we’ll provision your boat for the trip and provide an itinerary for the best places and times to enjoy any activity. The Ocean Institute, located on the east end of the harbor, offers a look into Southern California’s maritime history and vibrant marine environment. The surrounding waters are considered one of the best places in the world to view migrating whales, and If you’re real lucky a “dolphin stampede.” It is one of the most breathtaking natural events you can witness, with hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of dolphins ranging in size from young juveniles to adults measuring nearly 8 feet in length charging over the surface.

Whale Watching’s Other Season

Article Posted Mar 10, 2022

Most are surprised to learn Southern California has a summer whale-watching season. While the nearly 20,000 California Gray whales migrating along California’s coast from mid-December through April gets the lion’s share of attention, local waters from Newport to Catalina are a favorite waypoint for Humpback, Minke, and the awe-inspiring Blue whales from mid-June through October.

The underwater Newport Canyon, beginning just a few hundred feet off of Newport Pier, is a favorite feeding ground for visiting whales. Much like canyons on land, submarine canyons are linked to water movement. The upwelling currents created by these coastal features brings nutrient rich waters close to shore, and the beginning of the whale watching show close to home.

Giant Leviathans of the Deep

Although endangered like most whale populations, Blue whales appear to be making a comeback in the waters between Southern California and Catalina. These giant leviathans of the deep can grow up to 90 feet long and weigh up to 142,000 pounds, feeding almost exclusively on krill. Most whales can be identified by the waterspouts created when they surface to breathe. On a blue whale, the spout is shaped like an exclamation point without the dot and rises nearly 30 feet.

Humpback whales are identified by the black and white pigmentation patterns and scars on the underside of their flukes, and distinctive scalloped edge, called the trailing edge of the flukes. Humpbacks are easy to spot by their surface activities and aerial displays. They are the most acrobatic of the large whales, often breaching, spy hopping and slapping their long flipper Like Blue whales their blow is in the shape of a tall column. Local Humpback sightings are part of the larger California/Oregon/ Washington population that migrates from central America and Mexico to southern British Columbia in the summer.

Beyond the migrating whale population, you and your guest will also enjoy the company of common, bottlenose, and Pacific White-sided dolphin. If you encounter a pod of dolphins, drop you boat speed and watch as these masterful swimmers play on the invisible forces just beyond your bow.

Viewing Safety First

Every migrating period, whales face dangers from disturbance, ship strike, disorientation, entanglement in fishing gear, stress from harassment, and skin disease. For safe boating practices, wildlife viewing guidelines include: a no head-on approach zone, run a  parallel course never follow animals from behind, maintain a viewing distance of at least 300 feet with a max speed of 5 knots, avoid sudden changes in direction, limit viewing time to 30 minutes, and never put your vessel between a mother and calf.

Let Us Arrange Your Trip

Check in with our Concierge service before your whale watching  trip and we’ll provision your boat for the day and provide updates on best viewing locations.

Travel Times
Getting to and from the best local whale watching spots is literally minutes away. Your day can begin at the Newport Canyon, just off Newport Pier. The best viewing opportunities for giant Blue whale will be in deeper water and closer to the east and west ends of Catalina. The 27-mile transit to Avalon from Newport Beach Harbor will take about an hour in our Pardo and BRABUS models. The Sirena 58, running at a cruising speed of 15 knots will take just under 2 hours. Morning departures are generally greeted with smooth water, a nascent breeze, and the best conditions to see whale spouts.

We hope this brief introduction to whale watching’s other season helps you find a world of joy in your boating life.

Santa Catalina Island—or Catalina to those in the know—is one of California's best-unkept secrets. It's a hidden gem in plain sight. Day-trippers, cruise lines, vacationers, and A-listers alike have flocked to this small-town island paradise for decades to take in all that it has to offer.

White sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and water sports abound for those interested in relaxing and having family-friendly fun. Fresh seafood, wine, and island-brewed beer and coffee entice foodies. And history buffs will find no shortage of entertainment on Catalina, where old Hollywood has left a deep imprint.

A relatively easy crossing, beautiful coves and Catalina’s many amenities have made this resort island the most popular recreational boating destination in Southern California. Thanks to the position of the island, Catalina offers several protected coves on its leeward side that are calm in all but the most severe weather. On the windward side of the island, Cat Harbor offers safe anchorage and a jumping off spot to explore Catalina’s ‘wild side.’

Grab a Mooring or Drop a Hook

There are hundreds of moorings in Avalon Harbor and dozens more in Descanso and Hamilton coves, all of which are overseen and managed by the Avalon Harbor Department. At Catalina’s West End, Two Harbors and its nearby boating areas offer hundreds more moorings, which are managed by Catalina Island Company. Several coves between the two Catalina boating destinations also offer moorings and protected anchorage areas.

Avalon—Quintessential Seaside Village
The main town of Avalon offers numerous hotels, restaurants, beaches, spa experiences, land and ocean adventures, a golf course and a host of recreational activities for visitors to enjoy. Crescent Ave. is the main street surrounding Avalon Bay. Known by locals as Front Street, this scenic walkway features architectural elements like the Serpentine Wall and Wrigley Fountain adorned with authentic Catalina tile. Many of the town’s beachesshops, and restaurants are found along Crescent Ave. Avalon is also home to many points of island interest, including Descanso Beach ClubCatalina Island MuseumWrigley Memorial & Botanical Gardens, Casino Point Dive Park, Lovers Cove Marine Preserve and the iconic Catalina Casino.

Outdoor Enthusiast Playground

Catalina is known for a variety of outdoor activities like camping, zip-lining, hiking, mountain biking and adventurous expeditions to see the famous American bison herd. The island’s pristine waters are a favorite destination for scuba and free diving, sport fishing, and paddle sports. Island waters in  summer and fall can be some of the most productive to see Blue whales , with California Grays whales making their migratory appearances from Mid-December to April.

Stops include Historic Poulsbo, known affectionately as “Little Norway” for a Midsummer Festival. We’ll transit to the vibrant seaside village of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, cross into Canadian waters to Salt Spring Island, home to inspiring artist and writers, and finally to the unforgettable West Coast Wilderness Lodge, located on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. We’ll use the Lodge as our basecamp for days of adventure and exploration, including Princess Louisa Inlet—often referred to as the Grand Canyon of British Columbia.

Jeff Brown Yachts will be hosting several dinners and social gatherings throughout the trip but leaving plenty of time to explore each stop on your own. The trip will be a mix of staying on and off your boat, and we’ve pre-arranged all the lodging and mooring details. Hermes Speedster: A Modern Classic Featured in Porsche Club of America Panorama magazine

Article Posted Jan 28, 2022

HERMES WAS the Greek messenger of the gods (the Romans called him Mercury). He was the one with the winged helmet and was also said to rule over speed, commerce, and good fortune. It’s an apt name for a vintage Porsche-inspired boat that marks a return to the style of the classic runabouts from the early to middle part of the last century. Automobile-inspired boats are nothing new. In the 1950s, at the dawn of the fiberglass era, numerous designs appeared incorporating automotive styling cues. Unfortunately, most fell into the category of kitsch, with fins, chrome, and other excessive jet-age accoutrements. The Hermes Speedster by Seven Seas Yachts is nothing like those boats. Its inspiration is more subtle but still undeniable. The twin grilles behind the cockpit are reminiscent of the 356B twin-grille Roadster, while the cockpit takes inspiration from the 356A Speedster, with minimal instrumentation covered by a simple hooded binnacle and lightweight, Speedster-esque sport seats. The curved, low-cut windshield design is instantly recognizable as well.

While it takes many of its styling cues from 1950s Porsches, its real inspiration, according to the manufacturer, is the so-called “gentleman’s runabout” of the 1930s. Its design and bespoke construction might hark back to a bygone era, but the technology is thoroughly rooted in the 21st century. The Speedster’s 155-hp jetdrive propulsion system, combined with lightweight construction, yields a top speed of 45 knots. The patented hull is designed to provide a smooth ride and a near horizontal attitude at almost any speed. The boat has a convertible top for inclement weather, and a custom trailer is available. As with Porsche, there is a customer specified paint option. The E1 Cayenne GTS trailering the boat, itself a design that is gaining numerous admirers, is painted in the somewhat rare shade of Metallic Olive Green, with which the boat coordinates. The design statement made by a Porsche-inspired boat being pulled by a matching Cayenne is pretty compelling.

Jeff Brown Yachts Seattle customers enjoy the Norwegian tradition of Julefest

Article Posted Dec 14, 2021

Nine Axopar owners and seven boats cruised into the beautiful seaside town of Poulsbo, nicknamed Viking City, to celebrate Julefest. Founded along Liberty Bay in the 1880s by Norwegian immigrants, the community and Poulsbo Sons of Norway host Julefest, the traditional Viking ceremony signifying the day the Sun disappears in Norway for the winter. Tradition includes lighting a beacon to call the Sun back from the underworld. In modern times St. Lucia, a highly respected Saint in Norway has been incorporated. She is brought to shore by boat, carrying the torch as a symbol of the sun, where she lights a bonfire followed by the Viking King’s reading of the Winter Solstice Proclamation. Our Axopar group enjoyed this annual Puget Sound event that included a Nordic Craft Christmas Market, samplings at the Taste of Norway, and gathering at Sogno De Vino to share notes and chat boating. With the high performance, all-season, all-weather Axopar boats and clothing line, it’s easy to embrace that old Norwegian saying, “There is no such thing as bad weather—just bad clothing."

British luxury motoryacht builder Pearl Yachts continues its rapid growth and dealer development programme by appointing a second US dealer. Jeff Brown Yachts Launches Axopar Angler Model

Article Posted Apr 22, 2021

Axopar has pioneered a global marine phenomenon, with an uncompromising range of unique and exciting, ‘avant-garde’, fun-inspired designs. New to the line-up is the highly customizable Axopar 37 Angler— a result of decades of fishing experience from the team at Jeff Brown Yachts. It’s loaded with innovative features for the offshore Angler, with plenty of performance and creature-comforts for family and friends for day trips, and coastal runs.

Options and Features Designed for the Angler

What really sets the Axopar 37 Angler apart is the combination of hand selected custom options and offshore features.

The extended sun top offers terrific shade and weather protection; without compromising on the space and ability to fish from the front, sides, and back of the boat. There’s a large sliding canvas top, LED lighting, and a full row of stainless Rocket Launchers.

Mid-ship is a custom 45-gallon bait tank with a window built into the wet bar area, that includes a freshwater sink and refrigerator.

Turn around, and you’ll find a large and thoughtfully designed rigging and fillet table. Inset magnets hold hooks in place, and there’s multiple loops for tying off lures and a deep gutter drain. A large 184qt. cooler and a saltwater wash down, round out the aft deck work area.

Along the rails you can choose universal Burnewiin stainless rod mounts that give you the option to run adjustable rod holders from 15 to 30 degree or swap out for one of Burnewiin’s patented quick release rod holders. In addition to the Burnewiins, you can add Taco Outriggers, coupled with a Burnewiin adaptor plate. This allows for the universal rail mount to be used as a removable base for a pair of Taco 15-foot aluminum outriggers. And when you’re working a paddy or drifting live bait, the Seakeeper 2 will hold the boat steady allowing you to concentrate on the action.

For safer offshore runs you can upgrade communications with an Icom 2 Meter radio and increase cruising distance with a custom long range 75-gallon fuel bladder.

The Axopar Angler is the result of a collective experience and deep passion for boating. Designed and developed by true boating and fishing enthusiasts for the quality conscious boater who want to explore the world. Axopar’s concept of providing well-made, competitively priced boats, that are immediately recognizable with their unmistakable good looks and award-winning performance, has truly captured the public’s imagination.

To experience an Axopar Angler firsthand, call Jeff Brown Yachts to arrange a showing.

Adventures of buying an AXOPAR 37 XC

Article Posted Mar 08, 2021

After looking at boats for months and getting educated on the world of boating, we took a ride with a friend on his Axopar 28. That was the moment we had found our style of boat. My husband being an ex-motorcycle racer wanted something a bit faster than your standard cruising boat.

We drove down to San Diego, California to visit Jeff Brown and his Axopar dealership and spent the afternoon out on the bay learning what a great boat the Axopar 37XC is. I was hooked when Jeff easily motored the Axopar onto the white sandy beach of Coronado Bay. I jumped off the bow, snapped a few photographs, jumped back on and off we went. All the spectators on the beach were amazed that a boat would do that. Then it came time for my husband's big wow moment when Jeff took over the helm, told us to hang on and cranked the wheel over and easily did donuts at 40 knots. Right then I knew my husband was hooked and we had found our new boat.

Fast forward 5 long months. After tracking the auto carrier Virgo Leader from Bremerhaven, Germany to Port Hueneme, California, I awoke on a cold January morning at 5:30 am to watch the ship come into port. Finally our boat and 12 other Axopars had arrived. A couple hours later, I received an email from Karen Brown letting me know the ship had cleared customs and they would start unloading the thousands of cars and boats loaded on to her. I was lucky enough to have a friend who had a pass to get us onto the Port Hueneme base and we were able to watch the slow process of unloading. Each time a shrink wrapped boat came off the ship I whooped it up! Luckily there weren't many people around to watch me, but I had a great time.

A couple days later the boats were loaded onto trucks 3 at a time and started to make their way down the coast to San Diego about 150 miles. You're asking why the ships don't go directly into San Diego? I learned the Jones Act of 1920 requires that all vessels carrying goods between two U.S. points be American built, owned, crewed and flagged, which the Virgo Leader is not.

Once Jeff Brown Yachts started to commission our boat, ours was luckily the first one on the stands, I think I bribed them with homemade cookies. We drove down to the boat yard, made some decisions on placement of plugs and such and had a great visit.

But be prepared, things can and may go wrong. We were all set to drive down to San Diego when our boat was scheduled to be completed and low and behold, one of the Mercury Verado engines failed PDI, so a new engine had to be ordered. Mercury was able to send the new engine within days! Jeff assured us that in the well over one hundred Mercury engines they’ve ordered in the last year, this is the only time this has happened. At least it was the winter, so we weren't planning on taking any long trips. Just excited to see her on our dock!

The big day finally arrived! San Diego, here we come! Early Thursday morning we picked up our rental car, loaded with 2 suitcases of supplies for the boat and 2 bags with our clothing and off we went. Stopped off in the office to hand over the final payment, gave everyone hugs and of course homemade cookies and headed for the dock. Ian met us there and spent a couple hours on the boat going over everything and then off we went into San Diego Harbor to test her out for a few hours. The next morning we were at it again, practicing anchoring, docking and learning the navigation system.

Then it was time for the BIG sendoff. The guys from Jeff Brown Yachts followed us with a Brabus Shadow 800, filming as we traversed the San Diego channel. Then to our surprise, the entire US Navy came out to watch us leave. Aircraft carrier USS Nimitz was returning after months at sea. Hundreds of seamen lined the perimeter of the deck, donning their dress whites watching us as we exited the channel. Thank you for your service seamen!

2 1/2 hours later in calm seas, we arrived in Newport Harbor, California for a quick visit to refuel, have a nice meal, spend our first night sleeping in the boat and then bright and early we left for the second leg of our trip home.

The second day, the seas were not so happy. Piloting thru 5-6 foot seas, averaging 20 knots, it took us 4 hours to arrive at our home port of Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard. As we turned the corner of Point Mugu, it was nice to be greeted by familiar faces of friends of the Sea Monster and the Harbor Patrol! It felt great to be in our home harbor. We easily docked her at our home dock, glad to be home safe and sound. Since then, we have had a steady stream of neighbors visiting our new girl. Fun to see a new boat in the harbor.

Finally, we made it to the FINNISH LINE!

Big thanks to Jeff Brown and his entire staff of Jeff Brown Yachts in San Diego!

2020 Boat of the Year Axopar 28 Cabin

Article Posted Mar 01, 2021

This is one of the most sought after awards a manufacturer can receive in the marine industry, and the Axopar 28 Cabin was selected from a fleet of over 100 boats tested, and published by Boating magazine in the year 2020.

The "Boat of The Year" award is presented to a boat that the magazine believes to most advance recreational boating, quoting the 2020 jury:

"Awarding the most prestigious prize in recreational boating is no easy task. And it’s not getting easier; the dedication to craftsmanship, performance and safety exhibited by contemporary boatbuilders continues to rise."

"Axopar’s 28 Cabin combines innovation with versatility on its way to winning this year’s award. It can cruise, entertain and fish, and handles great. It delivers performance, versatility and innovation for a relatively affordable price."

The coveted "Boat of The Year" title has in the past mainly been awarded amongst the wide array of US boat manufacturers. This year is an exception and it is the first time that the "Boat of The Year" title is awarded to a European boat builder, Axopar Boats.

"We at Axopar are especially proud to be the first European boat manufacturer to receive this renowned award and want to thank our devoted network of dealers and our beloved customers in the US for their strong commitment and devotion towards the Axopar concept and its products, sharing the Axopar excitement and way of boating.", Founding Partner Jan-Erik Viitala.

Jeff Brown Yachts is honored to be Axopar’s exclusive West Coast Dealer in the US. We are excited to represent such an innovative and versatile brand that is thriving here in the Pacific.

Brokerage Owner Feature: Joe Dagostino’s J/105 “Viggen”

Article Posted Dec 08, 2020

Every boat has a story. JBY wants to know yours! We connected with Joe Dagostino, current owner of our newest J/105 brokerage offering "Viggen", to reflect on the memories he made onboard with family and friends over the years.

Favorite memories on your boat?

To me, a boat is just a movable party, and the party on Viggen has never really stopped. We have done so many races with the same special people and to pick one is very difficult. I do remember walking around SDYC like we were kings the second day of the J 105 North American Championships when we concluded the day in second overall. This plus all the Hot Rums we did, just a really great time we always managed to have.

Favorite locations you've sailed on your boat?

Viggen never really ventured too far from San Diego Bay. The Coronado Rhodes has to be the favorite only because that is where we spent the most time. But my favorite is taking the boat down to the Coronado Yacht Club with the crew and getting a drink from Thor at the bar.

Why is this boat special to you?

The 105 is just such a great looking boat, low to the water, proportionate in all aspects. The boat looks like it is at top speed even while tied to the dock. To see the fleet at the guest dock of SDYC is almost an art show on the water. We did quite a bit of cosmetic work to Viggen to preserve this look (reglazing the topsides, taking off all unnecessary snaps and davits off the deck, painting the mast). When you see the boat it looks like a thoroughbred, low, lean and ready to fly.

How did you use your boat, mainly?

We mainly used Viggen for One Design Racing. Tom, John, Carol, Ben, Joanne. Tod and myself got off the dock as often as we could. We dished out as good as we got, but we definitely became better sailors. I think we really had the privilege of sailing in the Golden Age of the 105 fleet with competitors like Chuck Driscoll, Denise Case, Denise Conner, Rich Bergmann, Rick Goebel, Hugh Bennett, Jeff Brown and even Lowell North. I know I had the time of my life on Viggen but now on to bigger things (namely a J/122).

YYachts selects Jeff Brown Yachts To Represent Brand in the United States, Canada, and Mexico

Article Posted Oct 23, 2020

San Diego/October 2020   Jeff Brown Yachts is delighted to announce being named the exclusive North American representative for YYachts. “We’re beyond excited to represent this truly innovative, and distinctive line of luxury carbon sailing yachts from Michael Schmidt Yachtbau boatyard,” says Jeff Brown.

According to founder Michael Schmidt, the ideal cruiser is the opposite of a heavy yacht overloaded with features. “Sailing fun is maximized by a simple boat that is reduced to the bare essentials without sacrificing comfort. I wanted a new yacht to stand out in the harbor, yet still pleasing to the eye after the passage of the years. She must be fast, and therefore light. YYachts sail comfortably, even in the lightest wind so there’s no need to start the engine. Once you have experienced YYachts playful mastery of long distances, the easy handling of a large boat, the performance in all winds, coupled with a high-quality living space, you do not want to sail on any other yacht.”

Spotlighting YYachts innovative design, Britain’s Wallpaper magazine, considered the “bible of contemporary design” worldwide, honored YYachts with one of its prestigious design awards.

In the “Cabin” category, the Y7 “Bella” came out on top, with its interior design by Norm Architects of Copenhagen.

YYachts models include the Y7, Y8 and Y9, in the 71 – 90-foot range. A fully custom 100-footer rounds out the offerings. Responsiveness is as important at YYachts as the construction of the yacht itself. Being a privately-owned company, the shipyard on the Baltic Sea is able to accommodate all customer requirements and the desire to stay connected to the owner and vessel for a lifetime.

“With YYachts, you have an amazing opportunity to partner with a visionary company to create a uniquely personal, high performance, luxuriously comfortable yacht like no other,” Brown added. Interested parties can contact Jeff Brown in San Diego at 619-709-0697, or Pete McCormick in Sausalito at 510-701-4880, for more information.

With offices in San Diego, Newport Beach, Sausalito and Seattle, Jeff Brown Yachts offers personalized service for buyers and sellers of both power and sail.
